Privacy
This page covers this website only. Platenpost is pre-launch: the site has two calculators and a form to join the list for updates. It is not a billing service yet.
What we collect when you join the list
You give us: your work email; your company name; what best describes your business (dealer, managed print provider, in-house team or other); how many devices you have under contract (a range, such as 50-150).
After you join, you can add optional answers: the tool you bill with; how you collect meter readings; whether you could share sample meter exports; a free-text note.
When you submit the form, we also store:
- How you found the site. This is the first page you landed on, the website you came from (the host name only, such as www.google.com), any
utm_tags in the link you followed, a simple label: search, direct, referral or campaign, and which page's form you used (the home page, the overage calculator or the fleet calculator). We record the landing page, referrer and tags from your first page in the visit, not from the page where you submit the form. - Your country. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, tells us the country your request came from. We store the country code only.
- A one-way hash of your IP address. We mix your IP address with a secret value and the current date, then keep only the scrambled result. We can't turn it back into your IP address. Because the date is part of the mix, the same address gives a different result tomorrow. We use it to limit spam: at most five signups from one network per hour.
If you sign up again with the same email, we update your company, business type and device range. The rest stays as first recorded. If you answer the optional questions again, the new answers replace the old ones.
What we count when you visit
The fleet calculator reads the CSV files you add in your browser. The files and what is in them are not uploaded or sent to us, and we can't see them.
We keep a daily count of visits to each page and of use of the calculators, including the fleet calculator, and of printing. Each count is stored as a page, an event name, a traffic label (search, direct, referral or campaign) and a number for that day. It has no IP address, no email and nothing else that identifies a person. Counts for the fleet calculator say that it was used, never what was in your file. Visits from obvious bots are not counted.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no cookies. While you browse, your browser's session storage holds your first-visit details (landing page, referring host, utm_ tags) so they can be sent if you join the list. Session storage is not a cookie. It is cleared when you close the tab, and, apart from the traffic label used in the daily counts, it is sent to us only if you submit the form. If you choose "Save mapping" in the fleet calculator, your browser's local storage on that device keeps the column choices you saved, such as which column is the serial number. It never holds the contents of your files. Local storage is not a cookie, it is not sent to us, and it stays until you clear your browser data.
Why we collect it
We use it to contact you about this product, such as to tell you when it launches or to ask about your billing setup. We don't sell it or share it with anyone for marketing.
Where it's stored
The site and its database are hosted on Cloudflare.
Deleting your data
Email hello@platenpost.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your details. We'll remove your signup record.
